Junquillal is great to beach to Surf and practice other aquatic sports. There is a beach break in Junquillal, located on the main beach at the north side, it is a very constant beach break, with right and left waves, will work better with a southwest swell and preferring when the tide is going up. The point is not as crowded as Playa Negra or Avellanas but the days where you can be the only one on the water are over.

I'm quite sure this is the activity that you will do and love more while you are at Junquillal. The beach is a long beach perfect to enjoy walks, if you are on the main beach to the south you will fin some nice tide pools, there is a special one that is a bit deep where I'm sure you can enjoy with the kids or with your couple. Going further to the south side of the beach is the Nandamojo river estuary,a great place to go fishing or just relax and contemplate the nature, birds, the silence and peace of that place.
